Grades K-2, Ages 4-6
Objective: Introduce fundamental movement skills and create a fun, inclusive environment that fosters early interest in lacrosse.
Focus Areas:
Locomotor Skills: Running, jumping, hopping, skipping, twisting
Technical Development: Cradling, scooping, throwing, catching, terminology
Tactical Awareness: Simple 1v1 and 2v2 concepts, spatial awareness
Psychological Growth: Encouraging effort, resilience, and curiosity
Social & Behavioral Development: Learning to share, follow simple instructions, and engage with teammates
Cognitive Development: Short attention spans require concise instruction with high repetition
Training Guidelines:
Ball-to-player ratio: 1:1
Player-to-coach ratio: 8:1
Session Length: 30-45 minutes
Competition Format: 3v3 (no goalies)
Emphasis: Play-based learning, frequent activity changes, positive reinforcement
Grades 5-6, Ages 11-12
Objective: Sharpen technical skills and introduce tactical decision-making through small-sided play and game-based learning.
